It is the ancient tradition of the Church to offer prayers for the deceased, especially on All Souls’ Day, November the 2nd. The positioning of this day is providential in that it immediately follows All Saints’ Day. This gives us an opportunity to honor and pray for those who, as we pray in the Eucharistic Prayer, “have gone before us, marked with the sign of faith,” but who have not been canonized, that is, named saints by the Church. To assist in this, envelopes have been placed in your Bulletin. Fill out the envelope with the names of the persons you would like us to remember, and then either drop it in the Collection or mail it to the Rectory. Names given to us will be inscribed in the Book of the Dead, which will remain in the Church throughout the month of November. Mass on all Souls Day and on varying days in November will be offered for these intentions.
